Me getting through 2016:
2016 may have been filled with hate and death. Most see this year as being depressing but I see it as a reality check. A not-so-friendly reminder to take life a day at a time and be considerate to others. As life goes on, there are seldom guarantees but we can always count on one album, band, or song to keep us going.
A few albums/EPs that I constantly return to have been
- Nothing But Thieves – Self Titled
- Bad Suns – Disappear Here
- The Wrecks – We Are The Wrecks
- Young the Giant – Home of the Strange
I’ve listened to these artists so much that they’ve taken over my ‘Top Songs of 2016’ playlist on Spotify, despite the short amount of time it’s been since finding these killer jams.
There were also a lot of amazing concerts that took place this year, I definitely beat my record from last year and I’m really wishing I would’ve kept track.
Anyways, what were your top music loving moments of 2016?
2015 has left us all in anticipation of what’s to come in 2016. Here’s a list of albums that leave us hopeful.
Following Magic Man’s first headlining tour in spring 2015, the group announced they had begun writing their third studio album. On July 10, Magic Man announced the departure of Justine Bowe, Gabe Goodman, and Joey Sulkowski, returning the group to their original lineup of Alex Caplow and Sam Lee. As the band finishes their album and reforms a group, I am eagerly anticipating their return.
Panic! At The Disco
With Death Of A Bachelor set to be released on January 15th and 5 of the 11 songs already being released, I still don’t know what to expect from this album and I’m okay with that. The single the album is titled after gives off a Frank Sinatra vibe, but the rest of the released songs seem to be a mix of their previous albums. I’m mostly excited to see how all the songs fit together.
With Tom Delonge out of the picture, we’re all curious to hear new music from Blink-182. While their 7th album has been in the making for about a year, the band’s tribulation has delayed the process, but all seems promising that the album will be released in 2016.
The band announced their second studio album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, due out February 26, 2016. Two singles from this album have already been released and they leave me wanting more!
Let’s get 2016 started!
